That’s because the blogging activities of the Niles Public Library District have all moved over to our shiny, new official blog: The Buzz. Project Playbill Presents: Musical High School

Poster for Musical High SchoolWelcome to Adequate High School in Adequate, Oregon. The school motto is “Keep it adequate!” and the school cheer is “OKAAAY!” The drama club tries to stage a production of the muscial Mint Green Tap Shoes,  and in the words of Playbill writer and cast member Robbie, they face a lot of challenges. Gabrielle says, “Come for the laughs and good memories. “This play is a lot about accepting people for who they are!” says Rohini.

Teen Choice Awards 2013

37 teens braved the construction to vote in our annual Teen Choice Awards. Their ballots have been counted, and here are the winners in each category.

Best Song, Movie, TV Show and Music Video were selected by a straight count of the popular vote. In the case of Video Games, votes for specific editions of a particular game (ie. 1 for Just Dance 3, 1 for Just Dance 4) were combined (2 for Just Dance) . The Musical Artist category was chosen by combining the votes for best song and best music video.



Enter Our 15th Annual Poetry Contest!

Win prizes! Submit up to 6 of your best poems to our annual contest to celebrate National Poetry Month.

To enter you must reside in Northern Illinois and be between 10 and 18 years old as of the deadline: April 21, 2013.

Please include your name, age, address, phone number, name of your school and library card number.

Winning poems will be printed in a booklet and displayed prominently in the library.

Check In with our QR Code Scavenger Hunt

code Our March-long Scavenger Hunt has begun! Five codes, just like the one pictured here, have been posted around the library. Pick up a scorecard from the Reference or AV desk, and use the codes to answer the five questions it asks you. Don’t have a phone or other device that can scan the codes? Follow the bit.ly link (in bright orange text) instead.

Turn in your completed scorecard for a small prize and an entry in our prize drawing. Fresh codes will be posted each Friday, so you can play four times.

While you’re at the library, be sure to vote in our annual Teen Choice Awards, as well. Get all the details and a ballot from one of the desks.



Teen Read Week Art Contest

It’s time for the Niles Public Library’s annual Teen Read Week Art Contest! Your original header art could decorate the library and our blog.  Art may be done in a variety of media – including digital – and must fit the dimensions of the blog header above (700 x 225 pixels).

 First place will also win a $50 gift card! To enter you must be between ages 12 and 18 as of October 26, 2012. Entries will be judged by the library’s teen advisory board. Submit your art at the A/V or Reference desks, or by email to dblock@nileslibrary.org.
